Product Manager, Management Systems

Classic product management responsibility, for Zhone’s management software functionality across all aggregation and customer premises equipment — including CLI, client-server, and web GUI interfaces to individual products as well as our element management system, OSS gateway, and automatic configuration server products. Responsible for both inbound and customer-facing product line management functions. Candidate will be required to manage product releases from conception through end of life: define new products, features, and detailed product functional requirements; develop and manage product rollout plans (including competitive positioning and differentiating value propositions), and support key sales initiatives; ensure timely delivery of critical features to the market; initiate product change notifications; and coordinate product replacement and end-of-life operations. The position will require close coordination with the product managers of all the hardware platforms in the product portfolio as well. The position reports to the VP of Marketing and Product Management.
Essential Skills and Experience:
• Thorough understanding of service delivery over today’s public telephone network, including voice, data, and video services (both current and legacy voice, VoIP, and IP networking protocols)
• Substantial experience with element management, OSS, and automatic configuration systems in service provider environments
• Proven ability to capture and document detailed product requirements in a clear and concise manner
• Aggressive and creative approach to competitive intelligence
• Translation of product features and capabilities into a marketable value proposition
• Management and prioritization of feature roadmaps to meet key market objectives
• Coordination and collaboration with engineering, test, manufacturing, and support to bring products to market
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience working directly with customers on issues and solutions
Candidate Requirements:
Position requires technical BS/BA or equivalent and six or more years experience in the telecommunications or data communications industries, including at least two years in product management, and availability for domestic and international travel.
