We're looking for highly technical customer focused, Software and Systems Director of Engineering to lead a team of embedded software engineers. The team is responsible for software development in the Voice and Data services area on our flagship product line. The group consists of software engineers, developing TDM Voice services, Voice over IP, IP/Bridge applications at a vertical slice, from hw/sw interfaces to application layer code. Development is in a vXworks environment on an embedded IP DSLAM product. The group is currently involved in leading edge technology integration of the latest in networking innovation. Technologies such as G-PON, Active Ethernet, 10-Gigabit Ethernet are integrated into both new and existing products providing first mile services.

Requirements:
• BA/BS in Computer Science on EE preferred; MS a plus.
• Very high technical competence
• Strong leadership record.
• That rare mix of intelligence, integrity, domain knowledge, verbal agility, and diplomacy which allows you to rapidly earn the trust of technically-savvy teams across the company.
• Extensive relevant management experience of software developers, systems administrators/architects, and hands-on technical professionals in related areas.
• Experience managing customer trials and issue resolution
• Strong understanding of coding principles and concepts.
• Strong understanding of vXworks and realtime embedded systems.
• Considerable relevant hands-on technical experience and a record of individual technical achievement.
• A solid understanding of IP networking, network devices, and common topologies.
• Strong project management background.
• Desire for a leadership career which offers the opportunity to remain involved technically
