Zhone to Report Third Quarter 2005 Financial Results

OAKLAND, CA — October 4, 2005 — -- Zhone Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: ZHNE), the first company dedicated to building total-delivery solutions for voice, data and video content services worldwide, announced today that it will report third quarter 2005 financial results on Thursday, October 27, 2005, after the close of regular market trading.

Zhone will conduct a conference call and audio webcast to discuss further details of its third quarter 2005 results at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on October 27, 2005.
