Press ReleaseZhone Technologies Introduces EZ Touch Provisioning SolutionExtension of Zhone Management System Automates CPE and ONT Provisioning and Management of Subscriber Services, EquipmentOakland, CA November 9, 2010 Zhone Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: ZHNE), a global pioneer in FTTx network access solutions, today introduced the Zhone EZ Touch Provisioning™ solution as an extension of the Zhone Management System (ZMS). This next-generation carrier-class network management and provisioning technology will support service providers in their ongoing efforts to maximize operational efficiencies while continually extending their voice, video and data networks. "As networks grow more complex and expensive to manage, service providers are striving to reduce their expenses and automate service provisioning," explained Brian Caskey, chief marketing officer, Zhone. "With Zhone's new EZ Touch Provisioning solution, we are now extending management capabilities all the way to the network edge – to the customer premises equipment (CPEs) and optical network terminals (ONTs) – and effectively enabling service providers to remotely configure, provision and manage either a single device or multiple devices concurrently in a manual or automated fashion." Zhone's ZMS has always provided element and network management capabilities for core network elements such as the intelligent MXK™ multi-service access node (MSAN) and MALC™ multi-service access platform. But with the addition of EZ Touch, telcos, utilities and other service providers will now be able to provision and troubleshoot the subscriber-facing features without a truck roll or manual intervention. The first release of EZ Touch Provisioning will support MXK and select Zhone-manufactured CPEs and non-OMCI ONTs. Some benefits that service providers will receive with EZ Touch Provisioning include:
Existing ZMS customers also benefit from seamless software upgrades available for their existing management server hardware. "The goal of EZ Touch is to reduce service providers' total cost of ownership for Zhone FTTH solutions by expanding auto-provisioning, remote configuration and other management features to all network technologies," Caskey continued. "Ultimately, the addition of EZ Touch will enable Zhone to increase its incumbency with service providers worldwide – regardless of their level of investment – and validate the company's position as a leading global GPON vendor."
