5960 POTS Lifeline Splitters with MTA5960-B1-192, 5960-B1-100, 5960-B1-200, 5960-B1-000, 5960-B1-0105960 High Density POTS Splitters with Lifeline support, Metallic Test Access and up to 192 ports in 3RUOverviewThe 5960 Series is a modular test access solution for DSL splitter and non-splitter applications. It provides up to three primary functions: Low pass filter for ADSL2+/POTS access, Remote and automated Metallic Test Access, and Secondary Over-voltage / Over-current protection. With the emergence of ADSL2+ and VDSL enhanced services like video, the POTS Splitter is a vital part of the network. The innovative design of the 5960 Series addresses specific splitter issues that affect video such as crosstalk and ring-trip problems. The 5960 MTAS (Metallic Test Access Shelf) sits between the subscriber lines and the DSLAM, enabling simultaneous voice and data services over the subscribers local loop, in conjunction with remote test access capability for customer line monitoring and troubleshooting. The MTAS enables the user to non-intrusively monitor the line or perform intrusive test access upstream and downstream. Test access functionality can be controlled by any leading broadband test head or OSS system that is compliant with the GR-834 and GR-818 standards. The 5960 shelf offers up to 192 lines per 3 RU of test access and can be daisy chained to provide over 2,000 ports per configuration. The 5960 MTAS product family consists of the test access shelf, control modules, and choice of plug-ins for DSL splitter and non-splitter test access applications. The backplane houses the POTS and LINE interfaces using standard Telco 50 pin (25 pair) RJ-21 connectors. The DSL interface is located on the front of each line card using a standard Telco 50 pin (25 pair) RJ-21 connector. This design separates the DSL and voice connections from a common backplane, significantly reducing crosstalk, which is critical to Video applications. On top of that, the 5960 series shelves provide make before break life-line POTS. Whenever a card is removed from the shelf, POTS service will be uninterrupted, ensuring critical services like 911 remains available to the end user. The 5960 is environmentally hardened to handle such locations as remote cabinets, as well as Central Offices. The option for level 2 protection on both the PSTN and Line ensure voltage protection for power crosses and lightning surges. Specifications
