Overview

The FiberSLAM product family is a fiber based line access multiplexer with integrated Ethernet and TDM aggregation. Providing WDM muxing capability in a 1RU, environmentally hardened enclosure enables the FS105 and FS101 to scale as bandwidth requirements increase. Flexible, field upgradeable filter packages allow this single device to support CWDM, DWDM, 1310 overlay applications and protection while still ensuring a low initial cost for low density applications. In addition, integrated TDM muxing functions eliminate the need for additional aggregation equipment such as a SONET/SDH ADM. Targeted for small and medium applications, the FiberSLAM family provides the fit and interface flexibility to meet a customer's specific application requirements and pricing expectations.

By utilizing a flexible, modular chassis design, the FS 100 platforms provide a scalable and configurable platform for delivering fiber based services to the enterprise, business park, remote enclosure, or wireless backhaul aggregation site without being locked into a fixed configuration that can’t meet the network requirements as bandwidth demands increase. SFP (Small Form-Factor Pluggables) based optics on the client and line-side allow the system to support CWDM or DWDM optics as well as short reach, long reach, or even additional CWDM or DWDM optics on the client side.

The FS105's wide range of connectivity options allows for the extension of many traffic types: Optical Fast Ethernet, 1.25 and 2.5 Gbps Gigabit Ethernet, ESCON, 1.0 and 2.1 Gbps Fibre Channel, FICON, and OC-3/12/48 (STM-1/4/16). In addition to four multirate wavelengths, the system has a single muxed service wavelength with the following interfaces: 2 x Gigabit Ethernet, 16 x T1/E1, and 3 x DS3/E3, and 2 x 10/100 Transparent LAN service.

For carriers with limited expansion requirements, the FS101 provides muxed wavelength support with single wavelength focused add/drop and protection filters. The FS101's single muxed service wavelength supports the following interfaces: 2 x Gigabit Ethernet, 16 x T1/E1, and 2 x 10/100 Transparent LAN service.

The FiberSLAM product family addresses key features required for simple and rapid deployment: compact form factor, reliability, manageability, flexible connectivity, and cost-effectiveness. The element management software provides key device management features such as SNMP, Telnet, CLI. Device diagnostics can be performed locally or remotely.
