Overview
The MALC, Zhone's Flagship Access product, provides the ability to support many copper and fiber based services. One such service is Ethenet. The MALC supports both copper and fiber based Ethernet services allowing service providers to either aggregate other Ethernet based devices or provide high bandwidth services to end-users.
The Active Ethernet card has the ability to both subtend other Ethernet based products over 100/1000BT Copper as well as provide 100Mb/1000Mb fiber based services to end-users. The 10 Ports on the card can be each individually configured to support these services by utilizing different SFP's in each port.
With the Active Ethernet card in the MALC, the Service Provider has the ability to provide traditional voice, video, and data services while also including the ability to provide high bandwidth 100MBps and Gigabit Ethernet services to end-users, ensuring that today's investment will take the service provider well into the future.
