Overview

The MALC is a full-featured Broadband Loop Carrier (BLC) optimized for delivering voice, data, and video services over a pure packet access network. MALC gives carriers the flexibility to cost-effectively deliver triple play services over existing facilities today and to migrate these services pure packet network. This migration is accomplished without disrupting subscriber service or revenue streams, giving carriers the ultimate flexibility for optimizing their networks and serving their subscribers.

The MALC T1/E1 8 Port Uplink provides 8 interfaces for connection to ATM/IMA switches. This combination enables service providers to easily support tradition TDM voice services and easily migrate to a Soft Switch architecture.

The T1/E1 uplink performs ATM cell relay functions between cell based line cards and the uplink card. The T1/E1 Uplink supports the full range of ATM Quality of Services (CBR, rt-VBR, nrt-VBR, UBR) as well as fair weighted queuing, and per VC and per QOS buffering.

The MALC T1/E1 Uplink supports card and link redundancy using a Y-cable to the standby card.
