Media Interface Modules (MIM) for the BSX8000-5, AµD8000-12 or 4929

Overview

Zhone's MIMs (Media Interface Modules) are plug 'n' play hot swappable modular interfaces for the IPD4000E and IPD12000E IP Broadband Loop Carriers and can be installed into the single interface module slot on the BSX8000-5, the MIM slot on the ADSL IP MicroDSLAM AµD8000-12, or the 4929 1U ADSL2+ DSLAM to enable connections to multiple types of network interfaces.

The MIM in the BSX8000-5 provides the uplink/backhaul interface for multiplexed data traffic from the 12 access module slots on the Broadband Loop Carrier 12000 or the 4 access module slots on the Broadband Loop Carrier 4000 providing a backhaul link for up to 576 ports of DSL or T1/E1 subscriber access.

MIMs support connections to most copper and fiber Ethernet Networks, including 10/100/1000BT copper, Gigabit Ethernet and 100FX. All of the fiber based MIMs accept interchangeable optics known as Small Form Factor Pluggable SFP.

In architectures where use of existing Wide Area Network links is required Loop Bonded E1/T1 uplinks can be provided using the Dual/Quad Line T1/E1 Micro Interface Modules maximizing the WAN bandwidth available in the backhaul.

Not all Media Interface Modules (MIM) can be used in each carrier slot, therefore consideration should be given to the following compatibility matrix when ordering the MIM cards:

- The BSX8000 supports all MIM card types (MIM-2T1, MIM-2E1, MIM-4T1, MIM-4E1, MIM-2000F, MIM-4000F, MIM-10/100, and MIM-100FX)

- The AµD8000 supports the MIM-2T1, MIM-2E1, MIM-2000F, MIM-100FX and MIM-10/100 cards

- The 4929 supports the MIM-2T1, MIM-2E1, MIM-4T1, MIM-4E1, MIM-2000F, MIM-100FX and MIM-10/100 cards
