Zhone's MALC OLT delivers the next generation of high-performance business and residential FTTx services. The MALC OLT is unique in the industry with the ability to support both PON and Active Ethernet fiber technologies to the node, curb or premises. In addition with the MALC OLT, service providers can offer digital or RF video, high-bandwidth Internet access, VoIP and cell relay services from a single OLT. For flexible deployment options the MALC OLT supports Ethernet, IP and ATM uplinks for legacy, overlay and Greenfield deployments. The MALC GPON OLT line card provides industry leading capabilities supporting 2.5Gbps downstream bandwidth and 1.25 Gbps upstream bandwidth. With the MALC's ability to support 1280 GPON subscribers using Class B+ optics it is one of the industries densest OLT's. Active Ethernet
The MALC Active Ethernet line card has the ability to both subtend other Ethernet based products over 10/100/1000BT Copper as well as provide 100Mb/1000Mb fiber based services to end-users. The 10 Ports on the card can be each individually configured to support these services by utilizing different SFP's in each port. 
The MALC's flexibility enables service providers to choose the best fiber technology for the services to be offered and the network architecture. Active Ethernet provides dedicated high symmetric bandwidth to the end customers and makes it an excellent technology for deployment of business services. GPON provides a cost-effective way to deliver high bandwidth to the residential triple play end user further showing how no one fiber technology best meets a service providers need to deliver a wide range of services. In addition Zhone brings together a complete FTTx solution that includes much more than the OLT such as fiber splitters and integrated fiber management in the cabinet solutions.
