Service providers require a residential broadband solution that offers the complete coverage across a diverse footprint using either copper or fiber, and often times on very long loops.

When offering residential broadband on either facility owned or unbundled copper lines, service providers require an access system that delivers optimal rate and reach performance on copper, as well as the flexibility to choose the broadband copper or fiber options that best suit their network infrastructure today and into the future.

Zhone’s MALC, available in 1U, 3U and 7U form factors is the highest-density, lowest cost access line concentrator in the industry. Its ability to deliver high volume service within a minimum of rack or cabinet space makes it the leading broadband access choice of ILEC's, CLEC's and PTT's worldwide.

The MALC is unique in that it can simultaneously support a wide variety of access networks (copper and/or fiber) and services from a single chassis, simply by inserting different line cards. Our system allows both G-PON and Active Ethernet in the same chassis and our menu of options allows tailoring solutions to best meet the diverse needs of residential and business customers.

The services cover a wide spectrum – POTS, Specials, ADSL2+, VDSL2, ReachDSL, G-PON and Active Ethernet. In addition, the MALC supports interworking between traffic streams with different protocols (TDM, ATM, Ethernet and IP).

The MALC supports an industry standard ReachDSL option that allows service providers to deliver fast broadband connections up to 40,000 feet (12.2 Km). Zhone’s ReachDSL technology also provides outstanding performance when lesser quality copper loops are utilized.

• OPX Cabinets: outside plant cabinet solutions in small footprint 4300 series OPX cabinets or larger 5200 series OPX cabinets in designs specifically for FTTx application in the loop distribution plant.
• Residential modems and ONT's: Zhone has a complete line of DSL modems, multi-port routers and WiFi models enabling a full-featured residential broadband service. Zhone also has a corresponding fiber ONT line for it’s FTTx solutions.
• Environmental: The MALC is designed for installation in remote cabinets and central offices.
