Application

Today's businesses rely on speed and connectivity for their success. To satisfy business customer needs, an access system must be capable or delivering a variety of broadband options for whatever type of service the business customer requires of a service provider. Large business needs may be different from a small business. So, too, are the applications, ranging from PBX broadband connections to Internet data. Unlike residential broadband, business may also want more than 'best efforts', requiring a service provider to offer a guaranteed amount of bandwidth. VLAN and QoS are fully supported in MXK and MALC and allow providers to deliver business customers broadband services with SLAs.

Solution: MXK and MALC

MXK supports business broadband services over fiber, and seamlessly integrates with MALC to support services over copper. Copper solutions are available with EFM, pair bonding, SHDSL or T1/E1. Both SHDSL and T1/E1 options can be bonded for greater bandwidth to the business over copper. Fiber based Active Ethernet for business delivers high point-to-point dedicated bandwidth, while GPON is another fiber option to deliver broadband business services in a shared bandwidth environment. Having multiple choices of broadband copper and fiber business service interfaces, allows service providers to deliver more business applications, therefore have greater revenue opportunity.

The IP QoS capability and ZMS management system of MXK and MALC enables the service provider to create tiered bandwidth services, to offer guaranteed rather than merely best efforts premium service, and to use VLAN's for assuring security for the business customers information.

To complete the solution Zhone offers the EtherXtend line of EFM Based CPE.

• Choice of Copper or Fiber: SHDSL and T1/E1 copper along with EFM pair bonding on MALC, and Active Ethernet and GPON fiber interfaces on MXK.
• Mixed Services: Copper or fiber broadband business services, broadband and Hi Cap, and business and residential broadband services can be delivered from a MXK/MALC combination, both integrating seamlessly.
• Migration for EFM with EtherXtend: SHDSL and T1/E1 business broadband can be upgraded to higher bandwidth bonded EFM as needed. Zhone EtherXtend EFM termination products can be added to deliver increased bandwidth over bonded copper pairs
• ZMS Service Quality Assurance: ZMS management: ZMS is a standards-based, carrier-class element management solution that provides management support for Zhone multi-service networks. Zhone's ZMS is an full-featured management system including a complete FCAPS implementation, with Fault, Configuration, Administration, Performance and Security.
