ETHX-21xx

Firmware Version 1.00.01

June 15, 2007

New Features and Enhancements

This is the initial GA release of the ETHX-SHDSL-1|2-LT network extenders.

Known Restrictions and Limitations

The following are known issues and limitations of version 1.00.01:

SHDSL.bis Data Rates Supported

  • The EtherXtend SHDSL LT supports all data rates from 192 through 5,696 Kbps, in increments of 64 Kbps. Not all 8 Kbps sub-rate increments are supported.

Back-to-Back / Book Ended Configurations

  • In fixed rate mode, when set to 512 Kbps, the SHDSL circuits will train but are unstable.

ESIM5700-48 Interop:

  • In fixed rate mode, when set to 192 Kbps, the SHDSL circuits will train and remain stable, but there is no upstream traffic coming from the ESIM even through LEDs on the ETHX-21xx and the ESIM line card indicate that traffic is flowing.
  • In fixed rate mode, when set to 512 Kbps and 768 Kbps, the ETHX-21xx device will train and remain stable until actual traffic is passed, at which point the circuit will become unstable and drop.
  • Circuits will not train in fixed rate mode when set to 3,584 Kbps.

Compatibility Issues

Net to Net Management Compatibility:

The initial release of this product is compatible with the IPD ESIM5700-48 and MALC-EFM-SHDSL-24 line cards, as well as the ETHX-SHDSL-4|8 Ethernet Access Devices.

Interop with legacy Network Extenders (SNE2000G, SNE2020G, and SNE2040G), IPD SHDSL Line Cards (SIM2000-24), MiniDSLAMs (SMD-2000-24) and MicroDSLAMs (SµD2011) is currently not supported. This issue will be addressed in a future software release.

Firmware version 1.00.01 is not compatible with units that have a BOOT code version lower than 1.00.03. This is mostly limited to pre-GA units shipped prior to June 22, 2007. Any unit with older BOOT code will need to have the PROM updated before upgrading to this or any future releases.
