New Features and Enhancements

New Features
There are no new features added in this release.

Bug Fixes

1. Allow for the DS3 framer buffers to be cleared after a yellow, blue, or red alarm. This will increase DS3 link speeds after the condition occurs.

2. Resolved a QoS issue whereby Ethernet Priority tagged traffic would not be honored on the DS3 ports if the MTM VLAN rules are set to default.

3. Resolved a DHCP Lease Renewal issue to ensure that the Renewal Timer (T1) and the Rebinding Timer (T2) are set if the ETHX-22x4 Management DHCP Client receives an Option 51 (i.e. Lease Time), but does not receive an Option 58 (i.e. Renewal Time) or Option 59 (i.e. Rebinding Time). This will improve compatibility with a number of DHCP Servers which do not always provide Option 58 or Option 59 timer values.

4. Added the Requested IP Address and Host Name to DHCP Request messages for improved compatibility with a number of DHCP Servers.

Known Restrictions and Limitations

DS3 Framing Mode

• The ETHX-22x4-DS3 units utilize the entire 44.736 Mbps DS3 bandwidth for data transmission. Therefore the ETHX-22x4-DS3 devices must be connected to unchannelized and unframed DS3 facilities. Asynchronous M13 and/or C-Bit DS3 framing formats are not supported. Attempts to connect the ETHX-22x4-DS3 devices to anything other than unframed and unchannelized DS3 facilities will lead to excessive bit errors and unreliable operation.
  
• If you are leasing DS3 facilities for use with the ETHX-22x4-DS3 devices, you must verify with your DS3 service provider that they will provide access to fully unframed DS3 facilities. Furthermore, they must also guarantee that any intermediary DS3 multiplexing equipment they use for end-to-end connectivity will regenerate the entire 44.736 Mbps of bandwidth without modifying or omitting any of the bits typically associated with overhead in framed DS3 facilities.
  
• The ETHX-22x4-DS3 units do not support E3 mode.
  

Multimedia Traffic Management (MTM)

• If the device is running in Subscriber mode (user configured) vs Provider mode (default), there may be some limitations to the MTM (QoS) rule configurations. Please contact Zhone support for assistance.
  
• Zhone strongly recommends performing all VLAN configurations via one management platform. You must use web management if you wish to take advantage of all MTM features. CLI or SNMP may be used for VLAN configuration if you have no need for the MTM features. Mixing management platforms (e.g., using web management for MTM configurations and CLI/SNMP for other VLAN configurations is not recommended and will likely cause inconsistencies in packet handling.
  

Loop Bonding Configurations

• OSI Layer 2 port filter configurations for a group of loop-bonded ports applies to all ports in the bonded group, but the configuration will only appear in the web management Layer 2 port filter fields of the lowest numbered port of the group. The fields will appear blank for all other higher numbered ports belonging to the loop-bonded group.
  
• Configurations for a group of loop-bonded ports must be completed on the lowest numbered port of the group. The higher numbered ports in a bonded group automatically derive their configurations from the lowest numbered port in the group. Any configurations that have been made to the higher numbered ports will be replaced by those of the lowest numbered port.
  

Telnet

• Telnet playback of a file containing a large number of lines without a pause could prompt a Command Line Interface (CLI) command rejection or device reboot.
  

Compatibility Issues

• An ETHX-22x4-DS3 unit must connect to another ETHX-22x4-DS3 with one unit set to Provider mode (default) and the other set to Subscriber mode.
  
• The ETHX-22x4-DS3 units were previously called the ETHX-DS3-x-LT. There are no functional differences between the two part numbers. They are the same devices.
  
• The ability to loop bond DS3 ports exists only to other ETHX-22x4-DS3 devices. The ETHX-22x4 kits are not compatible with, and will not pass traffic to, the DNE4500 kits.

Additional Notes

• For multicast video applications (IGMP) and other multicast applications, it may be necessary to set the Flood Unknown Multicast Traffic setting to "YES" in the Advanced Configuration screen. This will allow all multicast traffic to pass through the ETHX-22x4-DS3 device.
