Software Increment Release Notes ================================ Increment ID: I09A1730 Date created: June 21, 2000 CSR number: 50320317 Title: Mix and Match Fix Bundle Detailed Description of Increment: ---------------------------------- This increment provides the following fixes for Release AN17.30: 1. INM problems with HDT and Mix and Match configurations, including Visibility and Shelf level graphics. 2. Problems with TL1 commands initiated at AccessNode Express Voice Modules in a Mix and Match configuration. 3. Fixes a trap problem encountered when performing a DtlAlrm on a VLCM Link Fail alarm. 4. Enhancement to the in service testing of LAIC cards to prevent false failures. 5. Fixes a race condition experienced when doing line loop testing on DMSX Voice Modules. System Configuration / Shelf Type Requirements: ----------------------------------------------- This increment is applicable to all AccessNode configurations and shelf types. Increments Needed: ------------------ I08A1730 Loads Affected: --------------- APU Installation Instructions: -------------------------- Download increment from the Web: Either a) download the increment directly to the /iswd directory on the OPC. b) download the increment to tape and insert into the OPC tape drive. Start up Incremental SW Del. from the Software Admin toolset on the OPC. Deliver the increment: 1) Select Deliver an Increment. 2) Type y to verify your selection. Verify the increment: 1) From the ISD main menu, select Display Increments. 2) Select Display to Screen. 3) Verify the increment delivered have the correct Title and Description. Also verify that their status is "READY TO APPLY". NOTE: If the increment is a Linecard only increment, the status will be "LOAD DELIVERED". 4) Press any key to return to the main menu. Apply the increment: 1) From the ISD main menu, select Apply an Increment. 2) In the list, select the number next to the increment you delivered. 3) Select one of these options: 1) Apply to ALL NEs (to set the increment fully into the system) 2) Trial on one NE (to test the increment to ensure that it causes no problems) If you select option 2, a list of NEs in the span of control appears. From the list of NEs, select the number next to the one you want to test. A confirmation screen appears. 4) Type y to verify your selection. 5) When the application is complete, press any key to scroll through the Summary screesn until you return to the main menu. 6) From the main menu, select Display Increments. 7) Select Display to Screen. 8) Verify that the status next to each NE now reads "APPLIED" (or "TRIAL APPLIED" if you chose to run a test in step 3 above). IF THE INCREMENT INVOLVES THE APU YOU MUST DO THE FOLLOWING STEP Dump the image: 1) From the ISD main menu, select Dump an APU Image. 2) Select one of the valid load types that can be dumped. 3) Select one of the valid NEs matching your previous parameters. 4) Type y to verify your selection. 5) When the image is complete, press any key to return to the main menu. Test Instructions: ------------------ After applying the increment, perform the following test procedures to insure resolution of problem: For the INM visibility problem: 1. Retrieve the shelf view of the Nodes that were exhibiting the problem previously. ***Please refer to INM documentation for assistance if needed. For TL1 command failures at Mix and Match Voice Modules: 1. Connect to the Mix and Match Voice Module at the Craft Port. 2. Log into the Voice Module using the ACT-USER command. 3. Perform the RTRV-EQPT command from the Voice Module. 4. If the command is successful, an output similar to below will be seen. Log into the Network Element that has a VLCM Link fail alarm. 2. Post the alarms using the alarms command. 3. Detail the VLCM Link fail alarm using the dtlalrm command. 4. View the data generated by the command. ***Please refer to Alarm and Trouble Clearing Procedures for assistance NTP 323-3001-543 For timeouts during Line Loop Testing of DMSX Voice Modules 1. Perform Line Loop testing procedures from the DMS-10 2. Insure that MTC020 messages do not occur. ***Please refer to appropriate DMS-10 documentation for assistance For Robustness fix of the LAIC in service test: 1. No user testing is required.
