Software Increment Release Notes ================================ Increment ID: I16A1730 Date created: July 27th, 2000 Effect on Traffic: ------------------ This increment has no effect on traffic. Title: ------ This is a patch bundle that fixes several issues. Each issue is described below. Detailed Description of Increment: ---------------------------------- Issue 1 - Fix ring back problem on Omega CSC LC Correct a problem in the CSC Omega state machine that caused the INT (intercom) option to no longer work for LSR lines on the O2WS line card. Issue 2 - Add user priority on/off tool This patch loads module SETPRIO which provides the "priority" CI command. This command allocates additional resources to a specific user and is used during periods of heavy traffic or high CP occupancy to improve the user's terminal response. Issue 3 - CPU resources optimization Real time improvement for alarm audit procedures and path maintanence to mark lines out of service when a VT goes out of service. Issue 4 - CPU idle time threshold fix Real time improvement to process FWPADBUI. Issue 5 - Correct commissioning data after rebooting This fix corrects a problem with obtaining the correct commissioning data after a reboot of a field image. Issue 6 - Change the modem interrupt service routine. This item changes the way the modem interrupt service routine works during periods of excessive interrupts. System Configuration / Shelf Type Requirements: ----------------------------------------------- This increment is applicable to all AN17.30 AccessNode configurations. Prerequist Increments Required: ------------------------------- Increments I01A1730 through I15A1730 must be successfully applied prior to application of this increment. Loads Affected: --------------- APU: ACCL17AS, ATBL17AS Installation Instructions: -------------------------- Download increment from the Web: Either a) download the increment directly to the /iswd directory on the OPC. b) download the increment to tape and insert into the OPC tape drive. Start up Incremental SW Del. from the Software Admin toolset on the OPC. Deliver the increment: 1) Select Deliver an Increment. 2) Type y to verify your selection. Verify the increment: 1) From the ISD main menu, select Display Increments. 2) Select Display to Screen. 3) Verify the increment delivered have the correct Title and Description. Also verify that their status is "READY TO APPLY". NOTE: If the increment is a Linecard only increment, the status will be "LOAD DELIVERED". 4) Press any key to return to the main menu. Apply the increment: 1) From the ISD main menu, select Apply an Increment. 2) In the list, select the number next to the increment you delivered. 3) Select one of these options: 1) Apply to ALL NEs (to set the increment fully into the system) 2) Trial on one NE (to test the increment to ensure that it causes no problems) If you select option 2, a list of NEs in the span of control appears. From the list of NEs, select the number next to the one you want to test. A confirmation screen appears. 4) Type y to verify your selection. 5) When the application is complete, press any key to scroll through the Summary screesn until you return to the main menu. 6) From the main menu, select Display Increments. 7) Select Display to Screen. 8) Verify that the status next to each NE now reads "APPLIED" (or "TRIAL APPLIED" if you chose to run a test in step 3 above). IF THE INCREMENT INVOLVES THE APU YOU MUST DO THE FOLLOWING STEP Dump the image: 1) From the ISD main menu, select Dump an APU Image. 2) Select one of the valid load types that can be dumped. 3) Select one of the valid NEs matching your previous parameters. 4) Type y to verify your selection. 5) When the image is complete, press any key to return to the main menu. Test Instructions: ------------------ Issue 1 - Fix ring back problem on Omega CSC LC Locate or establish a working line that is an Omega CSC using an O2WS line card. Add the INT option to the line and place an intercom call from the line. Verify that the ringback occurs correctly. Issue 2 - Add user priority on/off tool From the CI prompt, type the following command: CI: >priority on Note that the prompt changes to "Pref>" and the message "User has priority" is displayed. This indicates that priority mode has been turned on for this user. From the CI prompt, type the following command: CI: Pref>priority off Note that the prompt changes back to ">", and the message "Normal operation resumed" is displayed. Priority mode for this user has now been turned off. Issue 3 and Issue 4 The real-time enhancements introduced by these two items has been verified in the lab using process real-time monitoring tools. It is not necessary to perform ths test in the field. Issue 5 This issue should not be tested in the field due to the effect on service. If for any reason the system were to reboot from a field image, with this patch applied, the correct commissioning data will be obtained and the system will recover properly. Issue 6 With the patch applied, monitor modems and verify that there are no adverse effects if there is a period of excessive interrupts.
