Software Increment Release Notes ================================ Increment ID: I24A1730 Date created: 12/15/2000 Title: ------ This increment expands the upgrade capabilities of the Loopback Access Interface Card (LAIC) and its CPLD. Effect on Traffic / Warnings: ----------------------------- The LAIC CPLD on AccessNode Express systems must be upgraded manually using the procedure in the test instructions. Detailed Description of Increment: ---------------------------------- 1. This increment adds CPLD upgrade abilities to LAIC hardware releases 8 and above. 2. This increment corrects a CPLD load reporting problem in which a Version 3 was being reported as Version 1. 3. This increment allows the CPLD to accept future upgrades through Version 9. System Configuration / Shelf Type Requirements: ----------------------------------------------- This increment must be applied to all AN17.30 AccessNode configurations and shelf types. This increment affects the Active Processor Unit (APU). Prerequisite Increments Required: --------------------------------- Increments I01A1730 - I23A1730 must be successfully applied prior to application of this increment. Loads Affected: --------------- APU: ACCL17AS Special Instructions: --------------------- None Installation Instructions: -------------------------- Please refer to the Incremental Software Delivery Users Guide for general installation instructions. This document may be obtained from either the AccessWeb ISD web site (https://www23.nortelnetworks.com/ACCESS_OPTICAL/esd/), where the AccessNode increments are located, or you may order it through your Nortel Account Manager or Order Manager. The document number for the Incremental Software Delivery Users Guide is P0934362. Test Instructions: ------------------ Note: Only AccessNode Express configurations contain LAIC's. - Apply the patch and make sure both LAIC cards are In Service (IS) prior to upgrading. - The LAIC in question must be placed Out Of Service (OOS) prior to checking the CPLD load version or upgrading. A. Checking the CPLD load version 1. At the NE, under the ANXUPGCI tool, issue the 'LAICCPLD' command. This will display the CPLD load version for the LAIC in question. 2. If the CPLD load is a version 1 or 2, then an upgrade will be necessary. If it is a version 3 then it has already been upgraded. B. Upgrading the CPLD load to version 3 1. At the NE, under the ANXUPGCI tool, upgrade the CPLD by entering the following command: >upgrade laic cpld where is the letter of the LAIC being upgraded: A, B, C, or D. Confirm the upgrade by entering 'yes'. 2. The 'LAICSTATUS' command can be issued to check on the progress of the CPLD upgrade. The upgrade will take approximately 10 minutes. 3. Once the upgrade is complete, issue the 'LAICCPLD' command to verify that the CPLD load is version 3. 4. Now change the upgraded LAIC back to IS at the LAIC equipment screen. This might take a few minutes. 5. If the other LAIC is also going to be upgraded, make sure the upgraded LAIC has been IS for at least two minutes before placing the other LAIC OOS. Then start over from Step A. - These instructions will have to be implemented individually on each AccessNode Express configuration within your OPC's span of control.
