Software Increment Release Notes ================================ Increment ID: I35A1730 Release: AN1730 Date created: 04-29-2002 Increment Type: TDM Title: FWD disc, TDM uneq during SWACT, lightning, and long loop ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Following is a list of issues addressed in this Increment. See below for more details. 1. TDM processors may go unequipped during a switch of activity (SWACT). 2. MVI lines may stay traffic busy after a forward disconnect. 3. No dial tone on first off-hook after forward disconnect of CSC lines. 4. MVI lines may stay in permanent lockout. 5. Interference from lightning may cause the MLCs to temporarily fail. 6. POTS24 support for long customer loops. 7. UE load transfer enhancements. 8. MVI lines get auto-connected to new incoming call on the 5ESS. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. TDM processors may go unequipped during a switch of activity (SWACT). * Description: During a TDM SWACT an unequipped critical alarm may be raised while the communication between the ABM and TDM is stabilized. * Impact: A critical alarm is raised during a TDM SWACT. * Pre-Increment work-around: No manual intervention is required because the alarm is autonomously cleared after the SWACT is completed. 2. MVI lines may stay traffic busy after a forward disconnect. * Description: When a UE9000 MVI line is on a call and the other party disconnects, if the MVI line goes on-hook during loop disconnect the line may stay in the traffic-busy state at the NE. * Impact: The line does not receive incoming calls and the subscriber does not receive dial tone on the next off-hook. * Pre-Increment work-around: The next off-hook and on-hook clears the issue. 3. No dial tone on first off-hook after forward disconnect of CSC lines. * Description: When a UE9000 CSC line with a provisioned flash feature is on a call, the other party disconnects, the CSC line goes on-hook from 1.2 seconds before loop disconnect to any time during loop disconnect, and another off-hook is performed soon afterwards, the line does not receive dial tone. * Impact: The line does not receive dial tone. * Pre-Increment work-around: Going back on-hook and off-hook clears the issue. 4. MVI lines may stay in permanent lockout. * Description: If a UE9000 line remains off-hook after forward disconnect of a call, the line may stay in the PLO state. * Impact: The line does not receive incoming calls, the subscriber does not receive dial tone on the first subsequent off-hook, and the line stays in a PLO state at the switch. * Pre-Increment work-around: Going back on-hook and off-hook clears the issue. 5. Interference from lightning may cause the MLCs to temporarily fail. * Description: A lightening surge that causes a transient on talk battery may cause all MLCs on the UE9000 shelf to fail. * Impact: All calls are dropped and each MLC on the shelf is failed. * Pre-Increment work-around: No manual intervention is required. When the shelf interface card determines talk battery is stable, each MLC on the shelf returns-to-service. 6. POTS24 support for long customer loops. * Description: Loops longer than 18Kft may have poor speech quality on loops served by POTS-24 line cards. This is because the excessive loop resistance reduces the overall gain at the station set below acceptable limits. * Impact: Poor speech quality. * Pre-Increment work-around: Move the subscriber to an Omega 2-Wire station card (NT4K67/NTNP41) or to an Universal Voice Grade card (NT4K79/NTNP42). 7. UE load transfer enhancement. * Description: An enhancement is made to the way in which load transfers are performed in AN19. This enhancement improves the reliability and robustness of the load transfer during a software upgrade and a TDM patch application. This increment to AN18 allows the AN19 enhancement to be effective during an AN18 to AN19 software upgrade. * Impact: Without this increment the enhancements made in AN19 are not active until after both the ABM and the TDM are upgraded to AN19. * Pre-Increment work-around: None. 8. MVI lines get auto-connected to new incoming call on the 5ESS. * Description: If a UE9000 MVI line is released by the 5ESS after it has gone through a forward disconnect, the called party will not receive dialtone while remaining off-hook. Instead, it will show IS at the NE and IDLE at the 5ESS. If someone then calls into the line, the lines will be connected without any form of notification. * Impact: Line does not draw dialtone while in the off-hook state and new incoming calls will be connected without ringing. * Pre-Increment work-around: Going on-hook will return the line to a normal state.
