Software Increment Release Notes ================================ Increment ID: I37A1730 Release: AN1730 Date created: 5-10-2002 Increment Type: OPC Title: OPC: Alarm Monitor and INM/Preside changes. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Following is a list of issues addressed in this Increment. See below for more details. 1. Alarm Monitor does not always store circuit pack entities. 2. Loss of comms not reported to INM/Preside for VM48 and VM24. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Alarm Monitor does not always store circuit pack entities. * Description: For AN17, the alarm monitor would not always store the card type associated with different alarms in the historical data, making alarm investigations difficult. The Alarm Monitoring real-time tool always reflects the proper card type. * Impact: Historical alarm analysis require additional effort to determine the card associated with an alarm. This is only an impact during alarm database research on an outage investigation, or other historical alarm analysis. * Pre-Increment work-around: None. 2. Loss of comms not reported to INM/Preside for VM48 and VM24. * Description: When a Loss of Comms was reported for the AccessNode Express VM48 or VM24 deployment, the alarm was not reported properly to the Nortel Networks Integrated Network Manager (INM, renamed Preside). * Impact: This potentially service-affecting alarm would not appear on the Network Manager, leaving a central monitoring position blind to this alarm. Note, other alarms indicating a trouble at the network element would be reported. * Pre-Increment work-around: None. System Configuration / Shelf Type Requirements: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This increment is applicable to all AN17.30 AccessNode configurations and shelf types. This increment affects OPC processor(s). Increments Needed: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Increments I01A1730 through I361730 need to be successfully applied prior to application of this increment. Loads Affected: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- After successful application of this increment, the OPC load will be: ACNL17BZ Special Instructions: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- None. Installation Instructions: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Please refer to the Incremental Software Delivery Users Guide for general installation instructions.
