Software Increment Release Notes ================================ Increment ID: I23A1800 Date created: 04/17/2001 Title: ------ New LAIC/CPLD Upgrade Abilities and TIC 2 enhancements Effect on Traffic / Warnings: ----------------------------- The LAIC CPLD on AccessNode Express systems must be upgraded manually using the procedure in the test instructions. Detailed Description of Increment: ---------------------------------- This increment addresses the following issues: 1) The Loopback Access Interface Card (LAIC) was unable to upgrade the CPLD load for hardware releases eight or higher. 2) The CPLD Version 3 load was incorrectly being reported as a Version 1 load. 3) Transport Interface Card (TIC) 2 assignments were not being displayed correctly through the Facility Assignment Manager on the Operations Controller (OPC). 4) The IBN Attendant Console would not seize the line for Loop-Start Residential (LSR) service on Multi-Line Circuits (MLCs) on the Universal Edge 9000 shelf. System Configuration / Shelf Type Requirements: ----------------------------------------------- This increment must be applied to all AN18.00 AccessNode configurations and shelf types. This increment affects the Active Processor Unit (APU). Prerequisite Increments Required: --------------------------------- Increments I01A1800 - I22A1800 must be successfully applied prior to application of this increment. Loads Affected: --------------- APU: ACCL18BC Special Instructions: --------------------- None Installation Instructions: -------------------------- Please refer to the Incremental Software Delivery Users Guide for general installation instructions. This document may be obtained from either the AccessWeb ISD web site (https://www23.nortelnetworks.com/ACCESS_OPTICAL/esd/), where the AccessNode increments are located, or you may order it through your Nortel Account Manager or Order Manager. The document number for the Incremental Software Delivery Users Guide is P0934362. Test Instructions: ------------------ ISSUES 1 & 2 - Upgrading the LAIC CPLD Load Note: Only AccessNode Express configurations contain LAIC's. - Apply the patch and make sure both LAIC cards are In Service (IS) prior to upgrading the CPLD load. - The LAIC in question must be placed Out Of Service (OOS) prior to checking the CPLD load version or upgrading. 1. Checking the CPLD load version a. At the NE, under the ANXUPGCI tool, issue the 'LAICCPLD' command. This will display the CPLD load version for the LAIC in question. b. If the CPLD load is a version 1 or 2, then an upgrade will be necessary. If it is a version 3 then it has already been upgraded and you can skip Step 2. 2. Upgrading the CPLD load to version 3 a. At the NE, under the ANXUPGCI tool, upgrade the CPLD by entering the following command: >upgrade laic cpld where is the letter of the LAIC being upgraded: A, B, C, or D. Confirm the upgrade by entering 'yes'. b. The 'LAICSTATUS' command can be issued to check on the progress of the CPLD upgrade. The upgrade will take approximately 10 minutes. c. Once the upgrade is complete, issue the 'LAICCPLD' command to verify that the CPLD load is version 3. d. Now change the upgraded LAIC back to IS at the LAIC equipment screen. This might take a few minutes. e. If the other LAIC is also going to be upgraded, make sure the upgraded LAIC has been IS for at least two minutes before placing the other LAIC OOS. Then start over from Step 1. - These instructions will have to be implemented individually on each AccessNode Express configuration within your OPC's span of control. ISSUE 3 - Checking TIC 2 facility assignments 1. Open the Connection Manager from the OPC. 2. Open the facility assignment tool. 3. Scroll down to make sure the correct TIC 2 assignments are displayed (if any are provisioned). ISSUE 4 - Seizing the line with the Attendant Console 1. Attach the Attendant Console's data and voice lines to the desired MLC lines on the UE9000. 2. Provision LSR service on the data and voice lines. 3. From the switch, post the voice line and attempt to seize the line. >mapci;mtc;lns;ltp;post l >ibncon >select c bnrcon_0 >seize 4. Look for the "CONSOLE NOW SEIZED" message. 5. If the seize fails, check the Attendant Console's setup and then try again.
