Software Increment Release Notes ================================ Increment ID: I29A1800 Release: AN1800 Date created: 3-15-2002 Increment Type: OPC Title: OPC: Connection and Provisioning Manager Fixes with Others ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Following is a list of changes included in this Increment. See below for more details. 1. Facility Assignment Manager does not open for tenth Facility. 2. Cannot add STS Connections 7 through 12 on Point to Point systems. 3. Unable to make STS1 card to TIC connections for TR08 and Tandem. 4. Cannot provision STS1 card to TR08 or Tandem circuits. 5. True TCP/IP data not saved on tape backups. 6. Alarm Monitor does not always show circuit pack entities. 7. Connection Manager inaccuracies on Ring systems. 8. TL1 does not allow parenthesis for the REACT test set. 9. Various OPC changes included. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Facility Assignment Manager does not open for tenth Facility. * Description: On systems where the NE's are numbered using 5 digits, the connection manager tool would not open when trying to add the tenth connection to a node. The Facility Assignment Manager would not open, and the facility therefore could not be added. * Impact: Unable to grow a five-digit Network Element past the ninth facility. * Pre-Increment work-around: A user can use TL1 to provision the facility. 2. Cannot add STS Connections 7 through 12 on Point to Point systems. * Description: On OC-12 point to point AccessNode systems, the RFT would not allow a connection to be made on STS's 7 through 12. * Impact: Unable to grow a customers Point to Point system to use all available bandwidth. * Pre-Increment work-around: No work-around exists. 3. Unable to make STS1 card to TIC connections for TR08 and Tandem. * Description: For our customers using the STS1 card, the Connection Manager would not allow for connections to be made from the STS1 card to the TIC when selecting TR08 and Tandem facilities. * Impact: Unable to provide STS to TIC connections when using TR08 or Tandem. * Pre-Increment work-around: Use TL1 to make the assignment. 4. Cannot provision STS1 card to TR08 or Tandem circuits. * Description: For our customers using the STS1 card, the user was not able to assign DS0 to STS1 card circuit provisioning from the OPC Provisioning Manager for TR08 or Tandem circuits. * Impact: Unable to provide STS to TIC connections when using TR08 or Tandem. * Pre-Increment work-around: Use TL1 to provision the cross-connect. 5. True TCP/IP data not saved on tape backups. * Description: For our customers using the TCP/IP connections into OPC networks, the Save and Restore resource to make OPC tape backups would not include the TCP/IP data. On a restore from tape, the OPC would need to be manually added to reflect the TCP/IP data. This data is saved in the /etc/inetd files, and is used for Ethernet connectivity, X.25 connectivity, and PAA connectivity, as well as xterminal support and xEMS support. Refer to NTP 323-3003-310, procedure "Configuring TL1 for Telnet or True TCP/IP" for details on how to display your current setting. * Impact: Restore from tape would require manual entry of TCP/IP data * Pre-Increment work-around: Manually record TCP/IP data in case of an OPC restore from tape. 6. Alarm Monitor does not always show circuit pack entities. * Description: For AN18, the alarm monitor would not always reflect the card type associated with different alarms, making alarm investigations difficult. Most alarms have enough detail to identify source, but a few alarms are shared between card-types. * Impact: Alarms require additional investigation to determine card associated. This is normally an impact only during alarm database research on an outage investigation, or historical alarm analysis. * Pre-Increment work-around: Log onto the NE to determine source, associate alarms. 7. Connection Manager inaccuracies on Ring systems. * Description: For our customers using ring topology, an issue existed whereby Connection Manager adds, details and delete operations could reflect inaccurate data. Examples would include displaying a connection that did not truly exist, or the manager stopping a connection add due to it already being in existence, when in fact it was not. * Impact: Connection Manager add, detail and delete operations could reflect inaccurate data. Connections could be displayed and made to otherwise non-associated nodes. * Pre-Increment work-around: TL1 can be used to add, detail and or retrieve connections. 8. TL1 does not allow parenthesis for the REACT test set. * Description: For our customers using the REACT test set, the scripting allowed by that external device was unable to change the gain for certain circuits. The TL1 commands should allow for parenthesis in the syntax, but the OPC rejected the use of the parenthesis as part of the TL1 command. * Impact: Unable to change gain/loss through TL1 script devices. * Pre-Increment work-around: Revise REACT scripts to eliminate parenthesis in the TL1 command strings. 9. Various OPC changes included. * Description: Miscellaneous changes have been added to this increment to improve the OPC performance in the field. Changes include (but are not limited to): Better debugging capabilities, prevention of core dump issues, memory deallocation improvements, prevent swer generation, prevent the non-supported 64Kbps error correction option when dealing with DDS circuits. * Impact: Various. General robustness changes. * Pre-Increment work-around: None. System Configuration / Shelf Type Requirements: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This increment is applicable to all AN18.00 AccessNode configurations and shelf types. This increment affects OPC processor(s). Increments Needed: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Increments I01A1800 through I28A1800 need to be successfully applied prior to application of this increment.
