Software Increment Release Notes ================================ Increment ID: I31A1800 Release: AN1800 Date created: 3-15-2002 Increment Type: TDM Title: TDM: Loop Disc, Long Loop, Fail LED, and Load transfer ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Following is a list of issues addressed in this Increment. See below for more details. 1. MVI may go PLO if on-hook 1.2 seconds before loop disconnect. 2. MVI lines that go PLO need two onhooks to clear PLO condition. 3. New MLC LEDs may be dimly lit due to bleed-over current. 4. POTS24 support for long customer loops. 5. UE load transfer enhancements. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. MVI may go PLO if on-hook 1.2 seconds before loop disconnect. * Description: MVI lines may go into a Permanent Lock Out (PLO) state if the called party goes on-hook during a narrow time window (~1.2 seconds) before the beginning of a loop disconnect signal. * Impact: MVI lines may get stuck in PLO state. Once in this state, new incoming calls are rejected. Additionally, the affected subscriber doesn't get dial tone on the first subsequent off-hook. * Pre-Increment work-around: Going on-hook and off-hook a second time clears the issue. 2. MVI lines that go PLO need two onhooks to clear PLO condition. * Description: When an MVI line goes into PLO, it does not return to an idle state after the phone is placed on-hook like it should. Instead, you must go back off-hook and then on-hook again to clear the condition. 3. New MLC LEDs may be dimly lit due to bleed-over current. * Description: The LEDs used on the UE9000 Multi-circuit Cards (MLCs) have been changed. The new LEDs are more efficient. One of two tests for pack detection involves constantly sending a small current through the Fail LED. This current causes the new LEDs to appear to be dimly lit. This increment turns that pack detection test off once the pack is detected. * Impact: This can cause confusion about the status of pack. * Pre-Increment work-around: No work-around exists, but it should be noted that if the red LED appears dimly lit, while the green LED is solidly lit, then the pack is working correctly. 4. POTS24 support for long customer loops. * Description: Loops longer than 18Kft may have poor speech quality on loops served by POTS-24 line cards. This is because the excessive loop resistance reduces the overall gain at the station set below acceptable limits. * Impact: Poor speech quality. * Pre-Increment work-around: Move the subscriber to an Omega 2-Wire station card (NT4K67/NTNP41) or to an Universal Voice Grade card (NT4K79/NTNP42). 5. UE load transfer enhancement. * Description: An enhancement is made to the way in which load transfers are performed in AN19. This enhancement improves the reliability and robustness of the load transfer during a software upgrade and a TDM patch application. This increment to AN18 allows the AN19 enhancement to be effective during an AN18 to AN19 software upgrade. * Impact: Without this increment the enhancements made in AN19 are not active until after both the ABM and the TDM are upgraded to AN19. * Pre-Increment work-around: None. System Configuration / Shelf Type Requirements: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This increment is applicable to all AN18.00 AccessNode configurations and shelf types. This increment affects TDM processor(s). Increments Needed: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Increments I01A1800 through I30A1800 need to be successfully applied prior to application of this increment. Loads Affected: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- After successful application of this increment, the TDM load will be: ANTDM18BW Special Instructions: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- None. Installation Instructions: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Please refer to the Incremental Software Delivery Users Guide for general installation instructions.
