Software Increment Release Notes ================================ Increment ID: I36A1800 Release: AN1800 Date created: 05-23-2003 Increment Type: OPC ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Title: OPC: Association Loss Alarm Feature and fixes. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Following is a list of issues addressed in this Increment. See below for more details. 1. Association Loss Alarm Feature. 2. Provisioning Manager timeout issues. 3. INM Connection Manager failure to open with large numbers of connections. 4. Add DTAP and STS1 AID definitions for use with TL1 OSS interfaces. 5. ISD prevents an image dump when a rebuild is needed. 6. ISD rebuild for ANX and TDM loads. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Association Loss Alarm Feature. * Description: This is new functionality in AN18 that allows for Association Loss Alarms to be raised and lowered according to association loss/regain conditions. These new alarms show the NEId(s) of the NE(s) that have lost association to the OPC. * Pre-Increment Impact and work-around: On an AccessNode OPC that has lost association to any NEs, no alarm is raised on the OPC. The impact would be that a loss of association may not be noticed at the time of the association loss. The opcui alarm banner shows a question mark to indicate that association is lost to an NE. Reboot/Load Manager may be brought up to determine which NE has lost association. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Provisioning Manager timeout issues. * Description: In AN18, the Provisioning Manager moved to a TL1 interface to query existing Network Element provisioning. In some circumstances the NE takes longer to respond to the TL1 queries. These changes allow the Prov Manager to stagger the requests to the NEs and the OPC to allow more time for the continued responses from the NE. These change will still allow the OPC Provisioning Manager to open with a non-responsive Network Element and the Update button will reissue the initialization TL1 commands to all NEs. Contact GSS for finetuning of these changes if problems are still encountered after applying this increment. * Pre-Increment Impact and work-around: Prior to this increment, the Provisioning Manager may fail to open. Direct TL1 commands can be used to provision facilities, DS0 services and manage cross-connects in AN1800. Refer to document 323-3001-190 for the TL1 users guide. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. INM Connection Manager failure to open with large numbers of connections. * Description: The INM Connection Manager would fail to open once a significant number of connections were added. This change allows the INM Connection Manager to open with more connections. * Pre-Increment Impact and work-around: Connections would not be able to be queried, deleted, or added from the INM Connection Manager. OPC Connection Manager could be used. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. Add DTAP and STS1 AID definitions for use with TL1 OSS interfaces. * Description: The DTAP (NT4K57GA or NT4K57GB) and STS1 mapper cards (NT7E09AA) were not properly defined in the OPC. This change allows for TL1-based OSS's to properly identify alarms related to these circuit packs. * Pre-Increment Impact and work-around: OSS components would not be able to correctly identify the alarms and events generated from the DTAP and STS1 circuit packs. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 5. ISD prevents an image dump when a rebuild is needed. * Description: When the ISD tool detects that a rebuild of the ISD database is needed, the tool did not allow an image dump to be started. Should a rebuild be necessary, then the presence of a bad image on the OPC could prevent a node from successfully completing a load operation. The change in this increment will now allow for an image dump to commence even if a rebuild of the ISD database is needed. * Pre-Increment Impact and work-around: The presence of a bad image can cause a Network Element to fail to load and come up in-service. Without the application of this increment, dumping a new image when a rebuild is needed would not be possible. If a new image is needed, alternative methods such as ftp must be used. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 6. ISD rebuild for ANX and TDM loads. * Description: Field operations have uncovered a situation where multiple TDM and ANX loads can be presented as needing to be applied. As load increments are load replacements for the device, the last increment includes all changes the previous increments included. This means that only the last increment need be applied. This software increment changes the way ISD determines the requirements for ANX and TDM increments, and will only show the latest increment as needed to be applied (if in fact a ANX or TDM increment needs to be applied). This increment should reduce the amount of time that a craftsperson would spend updating their network of all ANX or TDM increments. For instance, if the telco installed a new node to the span of control that contained UEs, then the ISD tool could show that several increments would need to be applied. With this change, only one will be marked as needing to be applied. * Pre-Increment Impact and work-around: The craftsperson would spend time applying increments, only to have the load entirely replaced by a later increment. Apply each increment in order. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Increments Needed: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Increments I01A1800 through I35A1800 need to be successfully applied prior to application of this increment. Loads Affected: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- After successful application of this increment, the OPC load will be: ACNL18AX Special Instructions: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- None. Installation Instructions: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Please refer to the Incremental Software Delivery Users Guide for general installation instructions.
