Software Increment Release Notes ================================ Increment ID: I02A1905 Release: AN1905 Date created: 7-04-2002 Increment Type: APU Title: APU: CSC Switch Diags, UVG MLC Failures and MLC diagnostics. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Following is a list of issues addressed in this Increment. See below for more details. 1. DMS-100 CSC interface fails Diag command after 1905 upgrade. 2. UE9K UVG circuits fail on upgrade when provisioned as LSR. 3. MLC diagnostic enhancements. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. DMS-100 CSC interface fails Diag command after 1905 upgrade. * Description: For our customers using the DMS-100 Nortel Proprietary switch interface (CSC communications channels), switch initiated Diags will fail on all line cards with the message that "MTA resources busy/unequipped at RDT". Please note, this is a fairly generic fault from the DMS, and could indicate a failed TAC, MTAC or other test bus equipment. Please note the Special Instructions procedure below. * Impact: Customer is unable to test the AccessNode lines from the DMS-100 using the "Diag" command. LNTST and ALIT still function properly. * Pre-Increment work-around: Use ALIT or LNTST to perform testing of AccessNode lines. 2. UE9K UVG circuits fail on upgrade when provisioned as LSR. * Description: During the upgrade to AN19.05 from either 17.30 or 18.00, lines provisioned as LSR (Loop-Start Residential) will be convicted as faulty if the service is used on a UVG (Universal Voice Grade - NTNP42AA) line card on the UE9K platform. The lines will recover automatically when the TDM has been upgraded to the AN19.05 TDM load. This occurs during the duration where the APU is on AN19.05 and the TDM is still on the previous release. * Impact: End users will lose service while the TDM is on the old release, but the ABM has been upgraded to AN19.05. * Pre-Increment work-around: Use the pre-patch image for AN19.05 to prevent this issue. 3. MLC diagnostic enhancements. * Description: This increment provides for diagnostic enhancements for the UE9K/UER 24 line POTS (NTNP40AA), 4+4 ADSL (NTNP44AA), Hong Kong POTS (NTNP40BA) and UVG (NTNP42AA) cards. Failure detection during diagnostic routines have been improved, and card component failures that were not reported before are now captured and the appropriate notification and action result. * Impact: Better diagnostic capabilities are delivered with this increment. * Pre-Increment work-around: Undetected card faults would require circuit pack change-out, without the system flagging the telco that the circuit was failed. System Configuration / Shelf Type Requirements: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This increment is applicable to all AN19.05 AccessNode configurations and shelf types. This increment affects APU processor(s). Increments Needed: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Increment I01A1905 needs to be successfully applied prior to application of this increment. Loads Affected: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- After successful application of this increment, the APU load will be: ACCL19HI ATBL19HI Special Instructions: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For customers who have downloaded and applied this increment, the craftsperson must perform a warm switch of activity on the processor for this change to be implemented. From the Network Element FWPUI screen, execute the "EQ PROC A" command. Ensure that the status of the DataSync State field is "Synced". Enter option 9, "Switch". The user will be prompted that the node will do a CP Swact, and that switched services will be preserved. If the node informs that a COLD switch will take place, DO NOT confirm the operation. Otherwise, confirm the operation. For customers who have used the NT4K90QB ISD02 tape to obtain this increment, no further operation is necessary. Installation Instructions: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Please refer to the Incremental Software Delivery Users Guide for general installation instructions.
