Software Increment Release Notes ================================ Increment ID: I04A1905 Release: AN1905 Date created: 11-31-2002 Increment Type: APU ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Title: UER DS1 assignments, SAA-12 Recovery enhancement, TBM ALMPROV ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Following is a list of issues addressed in this Increment. See below for more details. 1. UER DS1 internal reference number change. 2. Power-down recovery enhancement for SAA-12 cards on UE shelves. 3. Alarm Provisioning for TBM shelves. 4. Autonomous reset of Omega Linecards. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. UER DS1 internal reference number change. * Description: A UER issue has been discovered when adding line service assignments on UER shelf 5 and higher. Some line terminations conflict with the internal numbers assigned to the UER DS1 terminations. This will not impact the ability of the node to process calls from the UER, but posting the UER DS1 facilities will not be possible. After the successful application of this increment, all UER shelves will properly display their respective DS1 facilities. * Impact: Posting UER DS1 facilities on UER shelf 5 and higher will not display. In addition, the lines which conflict will not post, as well as their repective linecards. The conflict is only with CSC POTS (LSR) lines. The AccessNode will also generate TRAP events and alarms, as well as exhibiting sluggish user interface behavior. Should a trap occur, a warm restart will be needed in order to re-enter the FWPUI. * Pre-Increment work-around: Avoid using UER shelf 5 and above. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Power-down recovery enhancement for SAA-12 cards on UE shelves. * Description: For customers who have a large number of SAA-12 UE line cards (NTNP41AA), outage situations involving the loss of the UE shelf would take an extended time to recover. This increment by-passes some of the diagnostic tests involved in returning to service the customers on the SAA-12 card from a power recovery, thereby returning the card to service quicker and restoring the UE shelf faster. * Impact: Outage time is reduced for subscribers on the UE shelf, and recovery for the UE shelves has been optimized. * Pre-Increment work-around: Remove the TDM cards in the UE shelves to allow one shelf at a time to recover when multiple heavily-loaded UE shelves have lost power. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Alarm Provisioning for TBM shelves. * Description: For TBM shelves only, the ALMPROV function that is commonly found as item 17 on many FWPUI user interface windows, would return a blank screen. * Impact: The user would not be able to disable the reporting of alarm events on a TBM shelf. * Pre-Increment work-around: None. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. Autonomous reset of Omega Linecards. * Description: A condition exists whereby the AccessNode processor could convict the Omega linecard as needing a reboot. This would result in an LC602 log with the text "Auto Recovery Initiated" and a momentary loss of dial tone or a call cutoff. This change will reduce the chance of an Omega linecard (NT4K67 and NTNP41 series) resetting autonomously. * Impact: During a linecard reset, the card is not available for call processing. * Pre-Increment work-around: None. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Increments Needed: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Increments I01A1905 through I03A1905 need to be successfully applied prior to application of this increment. Loads Affected: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- After successful application of this increment, the APU load will be: ABM - ACCL19HI TBM - ATBL19HI Special Instructions: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- None. Installation Instructions: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Please refer to the Incremental Software Delivery Users Guide for general installation instructions.
