Software Increment Release Notes ================================ Increment ID: I20A1905 Release: AN1905 Date created: 6-31-2007 Increment Type: APU Title: DST, EBS volume, UE circuit Fail, TL1 CTAG, ESUP, SS OPC CLEI. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This Increment addresses the following issues. See below for more details. 1. Changes to Daylight Savings Time. 2. EBS ringing volume too loud. 3. UE MLC circuit failures after a TDM initialization. 4. Allow TL1CI CTAG strings to start with a digit. 5. Recover from Line Card loading issues after applying an ESUP. 6. Solid State OPC Common Language Equipment Identification (CLEI) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Changes to Daylight Savings Time. * Description: This increment updates the information used to track the time of day changes in regards to Daylight Savings Time as directed by congress with the passage of the Energy Policy Act of 2005. * Pre-Increment Impact and work-around: Failure to apply this increment will cause the Network Elements to continue to alter Daylight Savings Time in accordance with the Uniform Time Act of 1966. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. EBS ringing volume too loud. * Description: When migrating service from a DMS-100 to an AccessNode line, some end users have noted a change in the ringing volume on an EBS set. The lowest ringing volume selectable by the telephone station is 3dB higher than when the line is hosted directly by the DMS-100. This increment allows for an additional 3dB of loss for EBS customers, but must be used in concert with a special linecard load, the "LR" (Loud Ring) load. Please contact Zhone Global Services Support if you believe you require this linecard load. * Pre-Increment Impact and work-around: For a DMS-100, changes of this type are handled by the use of Table PADDATA. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. UE MLC circuit failures after a TDM initialization. * Description: Performing an active TDM initialization on a UE9000 shelf (either a D-link fed or DS1 fed shelf) could cause one or more voice ports of a POTS 24 (NTNP40), the UVG 24 (NTNP42) or the 4+4 combo card (NTNP44) to be in the partial fail state. A circuit in this condition would not be able to receive or make calls, but the data portion of the 4+4 card would continue to operate normally. This increment will eliminate the circuits from initializing in the partial fail state after a TDM initialization. * Pre-Increment Impact and work-around: Any impacted circuit would recover on it's own in less then thirty minutes. A manual diag from either the AccessNode or from the switch could also be performed to recover the voice ports. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. Allow TL1CI CTAG strings to start with a digit. * Description: Customers using TL1CI to access their network elements discovered that otherwise valid commands would fail if a CTAG string began with a digit, and then included any alphabetical character. For example, a CTAG of 111111 would be accepted, but a CTAG of 111A11 would not. Any CTAG beginning with an alphabetic character would be accepted, as long as the rest of the characters were valid. Valid alphanumeric characters accepted for a CTAG are a through z, A through Z, and digits 0 through 9. This increment also requires OPC patch I19A1905 be applied prior to the installation of this increment. * Pre-Increment Impact and work-around: Use a CTAG that has either all digits, or that begin with an alphabetical character. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 5. Recover from Line Card loading issues after applying an ESUP. * Description: When applying an Emergency Supplemental UPdate (ESUP) to the AccessNode, the NT4K67 and NTNP41 cards could fail to load. Common ESUP loads applied to the AccessNode are the "SL" load context for Extension in Use (EIU) Loop Start Residential (LSR) issues, and the "LR" load for Electronic Business Sets (EBS) that are ringing too loud. A LC308 line card log will be generated by the AccessNode indicating that there has been a "Communication Error" when attempting to load the new linecard load. The line will be left in a total fail condition, and will not provide service until the linecard context is set back to the original context. * Pre-Increment Impact and work-around: Incremental line card ESUP loads may fail to load even though they are properly placed and provisioned based on ESUP application notes delivered with the ESUP loads. GSS intervention would be needed to get the loads to apply. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 6. Solid State OPC Common Language Equipment Identification (CLEI) * Description: The CLEI reported for the Solid State OPC NT7E24FB was SNPQCBV2AB, and should have been SNPQCEV2AB. Likewise, the CLEI code for the OPC NT7E24EB was SNPQCBT2AA, and should have been SNPQCET2AA. This increment reconciles these discrepancies. * Pre-Increment Impact and work-around: Prior to the application of this increment, the NT7E24FB will report a CLEI of SNPQCBV2AB, and the NT7E24EB will report itself as a SNPQCBT2AA. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Increments Needed: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Increments I01A1905 through I19A1905 need to be successfully applied prior to application of this increment. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Loads Affected: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- After successful application of this increment, the APU loads will be: ACCL19HI ATBL19HI ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Special Instructions: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- A new APU image must be taken from the OPC Increment Software Delivery (ISD) tool after the successful application of this Increment. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Installation Instructions: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Please refer to the Incremental Software Delivery Users Guide for general installation instructions.
