Software Increment Release Notes ================================ Increment ID: I01A1960 Release: AN1960 Date created: 10-10-2003 Increment Type: APU Title: 2688 Voltage Message Waiting, UE9K D-link recovery and ESA ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Following is a list of issues addressed in this Increment. See below for more details. 1. 2688 Voltage Message Waiting Provisioning on CDS. 2. UE9K loss of active D-link recovery enhancements. 3. ESA recovery actions. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. 2688 Voltage Message Waiting Provisioning on CDS. * Description: New in AN19.60 is the introduction of the CSC 2688 feature, allowing for identical LENs to exist on the Network Element to different CSC hosts. When this feature is activated, an issue exists where the card code returned on a MWT provisioning action from the second CSC host would return the hardware assigned in the slot for the first CSC host. This could cause the provisioning of MWT to fail, stating that the card in the slot does not support the feature. Conversely, if the LEN on the first CSC host supports the message waiting feature, then the second DMS CSC host could allow the provisioning to go through on an AccessNode line that does not support the voltage message waiting feature. * Pre-Increment Impact and work-around: This issue only exists on the CDS shelf. The 2688 CSC feature operates correctly on the line, and only the hardware query returns an error for the CDS. Prior to implementing this increment, it is possible to work-around the issue by momentarily swapping the line card assigned to the first host, which will allow the provisioning by the second CSC host to go through. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. UE9K loss of active D-link recovery enhancements. * Description: When D-link connectivity is lost to the active UE9K TDM, the active TDM will go missing and the inactive TDM will fail. * Pre-Increment Impact and work-around: In order to recover the UE9K prior to this increment, the active TDM would need to be removed and re-inserted. Once this increment is applied, the UE9K will perform a cold swact in most cases to recover customer traffic. Our UE9K customers should take care to ensure that all D-link connections are properly fastened onto the TDM faceplate connector in order to prevent this issue from occurring. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. ESA recovery actions. * Description: Once conditions were met for an exit from an Emergency Stand-alone event, the system could fail to exit from the stand-alone condition. * Pre-Increment Impact and work-around: Should an event occur that takes the node into ESA, the exit criteria may not return the node to full service. A system audit would return the node to standard operations after fifteen minutes. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Increments Needed: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- None, as this is the first increment for AN1960. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Loads Affected: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- After successful application of this increment, the APU load will be: ACCL19LD ATBL19LD ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Special Instructions: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- None. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Installation Instructions: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Please refer to the Incremental Software Delivery Users Guide for general installation instructions.
