Software Increment Release Notes ================================ Increment ID: I02A1960 Release: AN1960 Date created: 10-30-2003 Increment Type: TDM Title: UE9K Store Utilization Change, D-link Robustness. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Following is a list of issues addressed in this Increment. See below for more details. 1. UE9K Store Utilization Change. 2. D-link recovery enhancement. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. UE9K Store Utilization Change. * Description: Enhanced messaging to the UE9K in the AN19.60 release caused inappropriate memory allocations to occur. This increment will release memory after it has been used. * Pre-Increment Impact and work-around: Before the application of this increment, it would be possible for the UE9K to exhaust all available memory. Should this occur, the active TDM would go into the UEQ (unequipped) status, even though it was plugged into the shelf and the faceplate lights indicated normal, working status. The NE would raise a Critical Service-affecting alarm on the UE9K, and all traffic would be lost. In order to fix a UE9K in this condition, the active TDM card would need to be removed to force a switch of activity. The user could execute regular warm restarts on a monthly basis on both the active and standby units in order to prevent this from occurring. This impacts the UE9K only, not the UE Remote (UER). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. D-link recovery enhancement. * Description: When D-link connectivity is lost to the standby UE9K TDM, the D-link will properly alarm and the system will take action. However, if the D-link were to fail a second time, the notification of the failed D-link could be ignored and not reported by the system. * Pre-Increment Impact and work-around: Before the application of this increment, it would be possible for the standby TDM to have a non- reported D-link failure. Should this TDM become the active TDM, the customer could experience loss of dialtone. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Increments Needed: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Increment I01A1960 needs to be successfully applied prior to application of this increment. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Loads Affected: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- After successful application of this increment, the TDM load will be: ANTDM19KI ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Special Instructions: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- None. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Installation Instructions: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Please refer to the Incremental Software Delivery Users Guide for general installation instructions.
