Software Increment Release Notes ================================ Increment ID: I04A1960 Release: AN1960 Date created: 8-15-2004 Increment Type: APU Title: LC protect, LCLOADCI, Call Reject, UE9K load, EBS volume, VM28. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Following is a list of issues addressed in this Increment. See below for more details. 1. Line cards stuck in over-current protection state. 2. EBS ringing volume too loud. 3. LCLOADCI command increment fixes. 4. MVI incoming call rejections. 5. UE9K loading robustness. 6. UE9000 MLC circuit failures after TDM SWACT. 7. VM28 loss of comms after upgrade. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Line cards stuck in over-current protection state. * Description: Lightning voltage or other abnormal voltage surges can cause certain types of circuits to go into an over-current state. These circuits may not automatically recover from this state and need to be manually recovered. These pack types include all vintages of the NT4K65 CDS Epsilon, NTN502 ANX Epsilon II, UE9000 NTNP40 POTS-24, and NTNP42 UVG-24 line cards. * Pre-Increment Impact and work-around: The circuit is unavailable for call processing until it is manually reset at the craft level of the AccessNode Human Machine Interface (HMI). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. EBS ringing volume too loud. * Description: When migrating service from a DMS-100 to an AccessNode line, some end users have noted a change in the ringing volume on an EBS set. The lowest ringing volume selectable by the telephone station is 3dB higher than when the line is hosted directly by the DMS-100. This increment allows for an additional 3dB of loss for EBS customers, but must be used in concert with a special linecard load, the "LR" (Loud Ring) load. Please contact Zhone Global Services Support if you believe you require this linecard load. * Pre-Increment Impact and work-around: For a DMS-100, changes of this type are handled by the use of Table PADDATA. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. LCLOADCI command increment fixes. * Description: The LCLOADCI command increment tool set default diagnostic and load ID commands may not work for all lines when setting multiple MLC circuits. * Pre-Increment Impact and work-around: Using the LCLOADCI commands to change the diagnostic or load IDs for many MLC circuits at once may yield unreliable results. The command works when setting IDs on a single line at a time. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. MVI incoming call rejections * Description: If a MVI subscriber goes on-hook between 1.1 and 1.3 seconds before an incoming call is received, there is a chance that the incoming call would be rejected. * Pre-Increment Impact and work-around: When this occurs, the MVI subscriber is not aware of the incoming call rejection and the originator gets call failure treatment. Subsequent call attempts to the MVI subscriber are successful. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 5. UE9K loading robustness. * Description: When loading the UE9K shelf during increment application or new TDM card installation, the ABM shelf could fail to complete the load indicating a "Load not Found" condition. This event is more often seen when the ABM is attempting to load multiple UE9K shelves at one time. * Pre-Increment Impact and work-around: Should the UE9K fail to load, re-attempting the operation would normally succeed. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 6. UE9000 MLC circuit failures after TDM SWACT. * Description: If a UE9000 TDM has an autonomous switch-of-activity (SWACT) during an APU intensive situation, like during an optical switch of activity, several MLC circuits may be failed. * Pre-Increment Impact and work-around: Multiple circuits on each TDM shelf that has an autonomous SWACT may experience the problem. Avoid optical switches of activity until this patch is applied. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 7. VM28 loss of comms after upgrade. * Description: Upon the upgrade swact to AN1960 from any previous release, a node with ANX Voice Module 28 commissioned will go into a loss of comms condition. Until the work-around is performed, no other ANX will be able to be brought up in-service. * Pre-Increment Impact and work-around: There are two options for the work-around: 1. Prior to the upgrade, move ANX28 to some other available ANX position, as only a VM numbered 28 will have this issue. 2. After the upgrade swact, delete and re-add VM28. Comms will establish, and any further VM addition will complete as normal and service provided. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Increments Needed: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Increment I01A1960 through I03A1960 needs to be successfully applied prior to application of this increment. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Loads Affected: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- APU: ACCL19LD APU: ATBL19LD ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Special Instructions: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- None. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Installation Instructions: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Please refer to the Incremental Software Delivery Users Guide for general installation instructions.
