Software Increment Release Notes ================================ Increment ID: I05A1960 Release: AN1960 Date created: 09-15-2004 Increment Type: TDM Title: UE9K MLC Service Enhancements ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Following is a list of issues addressed in this Increment. See below for more details. 1. MLC line circuit testing. 2. MLC failures due to ringing an off-hook line. 3. MLC failures during Protection Switching Activities ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. MLC line circuit testing. * Description: A line circuit's test bus may be left active causing erroneous values when testing other line circuits on the same MLC. * Pre-Increment Impact and work-around: Before the application of this increment, it may be possible for a line circuit test bus to be left active on the MLC. The effect of this condition is that other line tests conducted on other circuits on the same shelf could return errored results. Re-seating the MLC is the only known work-around. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. MLC failures due to ringing an off-hook line. * Description: When ringing is applied to a off-hook line card for a short period of time, the entire MLC may fail and reset. This occurrence should be relatively rare, as the terminating line must go off-hook in a window of a few milliseconds. * Pre-Increment Impact and work-around: Before the application of this increment, the MLC would fail, reset and recover on their own. Follow-up testing of the MLC would not indicate any problems. No work-around is necessary, as the MLC would usually recover on its own. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. MLC failures during Protection Switching Activities * Description: Primary optic protection switching may cause the UE9000 to momentarily fail Multiple-circuit Line Card (MLC) circuit packs. * Pre-Increment Impact and work-around: Tests have shown that action is not required by the customer to restore service to the impacted lines. However, under adverse conditions (such as several UE9000 shelves reporting multiple MLC failures) a more controlled recovery may speed overall system return to service. This can be accomplished by taking all the UE9000 shelves in trouble offline, and allowing each to recover in a serial fashion. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Increments Needed: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Increments I01A1960 through I04A1960 need to be successfully applied prior to application of this increment. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Loads Affected: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- After successful application of this increment, the TDM load will be: ANTDM19KK ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Special Instructions: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- None. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Installation Instructions: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Please refer to the Incremental Software Delivery Users Guide for general installation instructions.
