Software Increment Release Notes ================================ Increment ID: I07A2000 Release: AN2000 Date created: 10-15-2007 Increment Type: APU Title: DST, TL1 CTAG, ESUP, SS OPC CLEI, ESA, LC no dialtone. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This Increment addresses the following issues. See below for more details. 1. Changes to Daylight Savings Time. 2. ESA TRAP when dialing 911 - no dialtone. 3. Line cards stuck in over-current protection state. 4. Allow TL1CI CTAG strings to start with a digit. 5. Recover from Line Card loading issues after applying an ESUP. 6. Solid State OPC Common Language Equipment Identification (CLEI) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Changes to Daylight Savings Time. * Description: This increment updates the information used to track the time of day changes in regards to Daylight Savings Time as directed by congress with the passage of the Energy Policy Act of 2005. * Pre-Increment Impact and work-around: Failure to apply this increment will cause the Network Elements to continue to alter Daylight Savings Time in accordance with the Uniform Time Act of 1966. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. ESA TRAP when dialing 911 - no dialtone. * Description: For customers who have deployed the AccessNode in an ESA arrangement, a situation exists where an end-user could get stuck with no dialtone. If a 911 station has not been provisioned by the telco, and a customer in an ESA active situation dialis 911, the customer call will not complete, and they will not drop back to dialtone. This increment will return the customer to dialtone. * Pre-Increment Impact and work-around: None. The line would need to be diagnosed from the switch, or the AccessNode drop out of ESA back to normal operation in order to free the line. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Line cards stuck in over-current protection state. * Description: Lightning voltage or other abnormal voltage surges can cause certain types of circuits to go into an over-current state. These circuits may not automatically recover from this state and need to be manually recovered. These pack types include all vintages of the NT4K65 CDS Epsilon, NTN502 ANX Epsilon II, UE9000 NTNP40 POTS-24, and NTNP42 UVG-24 line cards. * Pre-Increment Impact and work-around: The circuit is unavailable for call processing until it is manually reset at the craft level of the AccessNode Human Machine Interface (HMI). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. Allow TL1CI CTAG strings to start with a digit. * Description: Customers using TL1CI to access their network elements discovered that otherwise valid commands would fail if a CTAG string began with a digit, and then included any alphabetical character. For example, a CTAG of 111111 would be accepted, but a CTAG of 111A11 would not. Any CTAG beginning with an alphabetic character would be accepted, as long as the rest of the characters were valid. Valid alphanumeric characters accepted for a CTAG are a through z, A through Z, and digits 0 through 9. This increment also requires OPC patch I08A2000 be applied prior to the installation of this increment. * Pre-Increment Impact and work-around: Use a CTAG that has either all digits, or that begin with an alphabetical character. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 5. Recover from Line Card loading issues after applying an ESUP. * Description: When applying an Emergency Supplemental UPdate (ESUP) to the AccessNode, the NT4K67 and NTNP41 cards could fail to load. Common ESUP loads applied to the AccessNode are the "SL" load context for Extension in Use (EIU) Loop Start Residential (LSR) issues, and the "LR" load for Electronic Business Sets (EBS) that are ringing too loud. A LC308 line card log will be generated by the AccessNode indicating that there has been a "Communication Error" when attempting to load the new linecard load. The line will be left in a total fail condition, and will not provide service until the linecard context is set back to the original context. * Pre-Increment Impact and work-around: Incremental line card ESUP loads may fail to load even though they are properly placed and provisioned based on ESUP application notes delivered with the ESUP loads. GSS intervention would be needed to get the loads to apply. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 6. Solid State OPC Common Language Equipment Identification (CLEI) * Description: The CLEI reported for the Solid State OPC NT7E24FB was SNPQCBV2AB, and should have been SNPQCEV2AB. Likewise, the CLEI code for the OPC NT7E24EB was SNPQCBT2AA, and should have been SNPQCET2AA. This increment reconciles these discrepancies. * Pre-Increment Impact and work-around: Prior to the application of this increment, the NT7E24FB will report a CLEI of SNPQCBV2AB, and the NT7E24EB will report itself as a SNPQCBT2AA. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Increments Needed: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Increments I01A2000 through I06A2000 need to be successfully applied prior to application of this increment. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Loads Affected: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- After successful application of this increment, the APU loads will be: ACCL20BE ATBL20BE ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Special Instructions: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- A new APU image must be taken from the OPC Increment Software Delivery (ISD) tool after the successful application of this Increment. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Installation Instructions: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Please refer to the Incremental Software Delivery Users Guide for general installation instructions.
