1.  Feature Enhancements / Functional Changes

The DSL router provides endpoint router networking capabilities in support of the 8303 and 8304 IDSL line cards. This can be configured to function in a variety of network environments. The sections below provide descriptions of some of the DSL router features:


This release provides the following additional DSL Router key features:


This release contains the following functional changes:
New user interface commands supported (see user’s guide and online help command for details and command
syntax):
– bridge {disable | enable}
– bridge aging-timeout [time]
– bridge priority [priority]
– spanning-tree {disable | enable}
– show spanning-tree
– show bridge
– nat basic purge
– nat napt purge
– ip routing {disable | enable}
– packet processing {disable | enable}
NOTE: This command replaces ip processing {disable | enable}, but this command will continue to be sup-ported
for backward compatibility.
Changes to existing user interface commands (see user’s guide and online help command for details and command
syntax):
– show statistiscs [eth1 | dsl1 | ip | bridge]
NOTE: The display of the Ethernet statistics (show statistics eth1) now includes counts of events that don’t
result in a frame discard, but are useful to know. These include the following events:
• Single Collision on Tx
• Multiple Collisions on Tx
• Late Collision on Tx
• No Carrier Detect on Tx
• Pauses on Tx
• Defers on Tx
– clear statistiscs [eth1 | dsl1 | ip | bridge]
– nat basic {disable | enable}
– nat napt {disable | enable}

    For proper operation with an 88xx/86xx DSLAM, this release requires an 8000 IP Conservative MCP with appropriate firmware:

5.  Compatibility With Other Released Models
    This release requires an 8303/4 IDSL Line Card with compatible firmware for proper operation in 8820/8610/8620 systems.The IDSL Line Card must be upgraded to release M04.00.38 or higher.  It is recommended that the latest official release of the IDSL Line Card firmware be used for full feature compatibility.
    Please refer to the IDSL Line Card release notes for information about compatibility with other port cards.

    This release requires an 8000 IP Conservative MCP with compatible firmware for proper operation in 8820/8610/8620 systems. The MCP must be upgraded to release M04.00.38 or higher.  It is recommended that the latest official release of the 8000 MCP card firmware be used for full feature compatibility.
    Please refer to the MCP release notes for information about compatibility with other port cards.  In general, the management card firmware release needs to be the same as or newer than the newest firmware release on a port card in the DSLAM.
