 Initial Release

  1. Feature Enhancements / Functional Changes

This release provides the following additional key features:

• Transparent bridging (with spanning tree protocol availability) of all protocols in the service domain. Simultaneous routing of IP traffic with bridging of all other protocol traffic.

• Ethernet type and ICMP message type filter support for bridged and/or routed service domain traffic.

• Simultaneous Basic NAT and NAPT support.

New manuals support this product:

2. Functional Changes

This release contains the following functional changes:

New user interface commands supported (see user’s guide and online help command for details and command syntax):

– bridge {disable | enable}

– bridge aging-timeout [time]

– bridge priority [priority]

– spanning-tree {disable | enable}

– show spanning-tree

– show bridge

– nat basic purge

– nat napt purge

– ip routing {disable | enable}

– packet processing {disable | enable}

NOTE: This command replaces ip processing {disable | enable}, but this command will continue to be supported for backward compatibility.

Changes to existing user interface commands (see user’s guide and online help command for details and command syntax):

– show statistiscs [eth1 | dsl1 | ip | bridge]

NOTE: The display of the Ethernet statistics (show statistics eth1) now includes counts of events that don’t result in a frame discard, but are useful to know. These include the following events:

• Single Collision on Tx

• Multiple Collisions on Tx

• Late Collision on Tx

• No Carrier Detect on Tx

• Pauses on Tx

• Defers on Tx

– clear statistiscs [eth1 | dsl1 | ip | bridge]

– nat basic {disable | enable}

– nat napt {disable | enable}

    Support NAT/DHCP w/ public and private IPs on E0

    AR 12013 (PDNaa00412)

    User level needs traceroute and ping

    PDNaa03492, PDNaa04103

     NAT NAPT MAP command not passing traffic on layer 3 endpoints / Intermittent problem NAPT.

  3. Hardware Co-Requirements
  4. This firmware release supersedes all prior releases and is intended to replace firmware currently deployed in all 6341/6342 SDSL-CAP DSL Routers.

    When the router is upgraded to R3, the center two digits of the device’s model number will be changed to "A3" to reflect the current operating release level.

    The factory default configuration is for bridging to be enabled and service domain IP routing to be disabled. However, upgrading existing routers will leave service domain IP routing enabled and bridging disabled.

    For proper operation with an 88xx/86xx DSLAM, this release requires an 8000 IP Conservative MCC, MCC Plus, or MCP with appropriate firmware:

  7. Compatibility With Other Released Models
  8. This release is compatible with 8343/8344 running rel. 04.02.27 or later.

  9. Upgrade Procedures:

The 6341/6342 SDSL-CAP DSL Router supports the following methods of upgrade:

1. Download using a PC connected to the 6341/6342 SDSL-CAP DSL Router’s ethernet connector. This method requires the file C040010.EXE. Obtain this file from the Paradyne web site and execute it on the connected PC. The PC must be running either Windows 95, or Windows NT 4.0, or later. The readme.txt file that will be installed with the download programs contains the instructions for performing the download.

2. Download using the DSL link. This method requires the file FLSH6341.BIN. Refer to the Paradyne supplied User’s Manuals for the procedure to follow for this method of upgrade. The sequence to follow when upgrading a 6341/6342 SDSL-CAP DSL Router to this release over the DSL link is as follows:

1. Upgrade the 6341/6342 SDSL-CAP DSL Router to release C03.01.07 if it is running firmware prior to that release. This needs to be done due to incompatible DSP code in the releases prior to release C03.01.07.

2. Upgrade the port card to a compatible release as defined in section 10 of this document.

3. Upgrade the 6341/6342 SDSL-CAP DSL Router to this release.
