    Description
    PDNaa04583
    6341  transposed MAC Address

The problem occurrence is dependent on the IP subnet routes configured and the order of packets sent to particular destinations when there isn't an entry in the Fast Path IP cache for those IP addresses. When an IP packet was forwarded to a destination in the range 194.121.255.1 to 194.121.255.63, RouterWare would add a entry to the Fast Path IP cache for the 194.121.255.0 class C subnet.  Any subsequent packets sent to destination addresses outside of this range would be forwarded to the 194.121.255.193 gateway unless they had previously gotten a host route entry added to the Fast Path cache.  When the subnet cache entry is removed (ARP table purge or entry timeout), the race condition to see who gets an entry back into the cache first occurs again.

RouterWare's Fast Path IP support doesn't understand CIDR and tries to categorize everything as vanilla class A, B, or C.  Therefore, only host route entries are now permitted into the Fast Path IP cache.

Recommend you upgrade if you are encountering this problem.

3. Hardware Co-Requirements

This firmware release supersedes all prior releases and is intended to replace firmware currently deployed in all 6341/6342 SDSL-CAP DSL Routers.
When the router is upgraded to R3, the center two digits of the device’s model number will be changed to "A3" to reflect the current operating release level.

The factory default configuration is for bridging to be enabled and service domain IP routing to be disabled. However, upgrading existing routers will leave service domain IP routing enabled and bridging disabled.

For proper operation with an 88xx/86xx DSLAM, this release requires an 8000 IP Conservative MCC, MCC Plus, or MCP with appropriate firmware:

    Card Type CCA # DSLAM
    8343 SDSL 24 Port Card 868-4551-8000 8610, 8810, 8820
    8344 SDSL 24 Port Card  868-4551-8000 8820, 8620
    8000 IP Conservative MCC 868-3362-80xx (xx = 00, 01, 02, …) 8810
    8000 IP Conservative MCC Plus 868-3882-80xx (xx = 00, 01, 02, …) 8810
    8000 IP Conservative MCP 868-3883-80xx (xx = 00, 01, 02, …) 8610, 8620, 8820
4. Software Co-Requirements

    Card Type CCA # Firmware
    8343 SDSL 24 Port Card 868-4551-8000 C04.02.27
    8344 SDSL 24 Port Card  868-4551-8000 C04.02.27
    8000 IP Conservative MCC 868-3362-80xx (xx = 00, 01, 02, …) M04.02.27
    8000 IP Conservative MCC Plus 868-3882-80xx (xx = 00, 01, 02, …) M04.02.27

5.  Compatibility With Other Released Models
This release is compatible with 8343/8344 running rel. 04.02.27 or later.
6. Upgrade Procedures:

The 6341/6342 SDSL-CAP DSL Router supports the following methods of upgrade:

1. Download using a PC connected to the 6341/6342 SDSL-CAP DSL Router’s ethernet connector. This method requires the file 6341_C040206.EXE. Obtain this file from the Paradyne web site and execute it on the connected PC. The PC must be running either Windows 95, or Windows NT 4.0, or later. The readme.txt file that will be installed with the download programs contains the instructions for performing the download.

2. Download using the DSL link. This method requires the file 6341_040206.BIN or 6341_040206.img. Refer to the Paradyne supplied User’s Manuals for the procedure to follow for this method of upgrade. The sequence to follow when upgrading a 6341/6342 SDSL-CAP DSL Router to this release over the DSL link is as follows:

1. Upgrade the 6341/6342 SDSL-CAP DSL Router to release C03.01.07 if it is running firmware prior to that release. This needs to be done due to incompatible DSP code in the releases prior to release C03.01.07.

2. Upgrade the port card to a compatible release as defined in this document.

3. Upgrade the 6341/6342 SDSL-CAP DSL Router to this release. The “.BIN” file can be used for download to any previous release of the 6341/6342 SDSL-CAP DSL Router. The “.IMG” file includes the Common Download Header and can only be used for download to the 6341/6342 SDSL-CAP DSL Router for releases C04.00.03 or later.
