1. Feature Enhancements / Functional Changes

Release 01.01.03 introduces a limited Command Line Interface (CLI).

This release contains the following functional changes:
telnet CLI with support for:

    • Configuration of IP Address for Management PVC (DHCP or static assignment)
    • tftp client support for firmware download
    • ping command
    • Password change
    • Display of unit identification and status information relevant to the Management PVC

This CLI is accessible by telnet through either the Ethernet port (IP Address 135.26.6.105 (default))or VPI/VCI 0,33 on the DSL link (By default, the IP Address will be acquired through DHCP (DSL link only); Static IP Address may also be configured)

The console login procedure requires a login name and password. Two login names are defined: “user” and “admin”, with the respective default passwords “user” and “admin”. Each login may change its own password. The login “admin” may also change the password for the login “user”.

    Part68 Support:
    • Enabled for model number 6390-A1-210 only (This feature is not user configurable. If Part68 support is required, this unit must be ordered from factory).
    • When using a Part68 endpoint, Maximum line rate is limited to 1440 kpbs.

5. Download procedure

NOTE: This download procedure is to upgrade a unit with Rel. 01.00.15 or lower. If the 6390 endpoint is already upgraded to 01.01.03, there will be a different download procedure (TFTP through console). Refer to the 6390 Installation guide for this new procedure.

1. Create a management cross connect to the endpoint. Refer to the 8355 user's guide and the 42xx manual to create the endpoint management cross connects.

2. Unzip the self-extacting file: 6390_010103.exe
3. From a DOS prompt, change directory to where the unzipped files are located.
4. Ping the 6390 endpoint and make sure there is a response (IP address: 135.26.95.1).
5. From the DOS prompt, type 6390EPDL.bat*
6. Wait for the 6390 to Reset (Approx. 45 seconds)

*NOTE: It is very important that the 6390 is not powered down during this process. This may corrupt the
memory, and the endpoint would have to be sent back for repair.
